essential oils for hair- make your own products

Essential Oils for Hair
Give your Hair a Treat!

Essential oils for hair can help you grow hair fast, reduce dandruff and hair loss, and minimize symptoms of alopecia areta.

Do you want great, healthy looking hair? Every time I walk into get my hair cut, my stylist always says she can’t believe how fast my hair grows and how shiny it is!

But, first, did you know that…

How our hair looks, feels and grows can change based on –

• What we put on it (synthetic shampoos, conditioners, gel, etc)

• What we eat and drink (good for body=good for hair)

• What we do (swimming in chlorinated pools, using hair dryer, etc)

• Quality of our shower water (Use a shower filter for best results to remove fluoride, chlorine, iron oxides (“rust water”), reduce harmful VOCs and other contaminants.)

• Genetics (what are parents passed down to us)

• How much sleep we have nightly

• Our stress level and

• Other health conditions (thyroid conditions, hormones, poor circulation, etc)

So, my advice is, in addition to using the oils, review that list and determine if there is something else you need to do to support your hair. This may be as simple as drinking more water!

Did you know that most shampoos, hair and skincare products on the market contain synthetic materials that create many of our hair, scalp and skin problems?

Here are a few examples –

• Propylene Glycol – inhibits skin cell growth; causes rashes, dry skin and skin irritation.

• Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Laureth Sulfate – surfactant that corrodes hair follicles, impairs ability to grow hair and causes inflammation of skin.

• Oleyl betaine – causes dry hair, dandruff and dry scalp.

• Mineral oils – petroleum products clog pores! Yes, the molecule is too big to be absorbed by the skin.

So, check your labels, you may be surprised! If your shampoo has a pH between 4 and 6 and doesn’t have synthetic compounds your hair is safe.

There are great natural hair products on the market that contain essential oils including the AromaSilk line by Young Living. This is the only product I will place on my head!

If you are adventurous, make them at home by using a base shampoo and adding oils that are right for your hair type or condition. I usually add 3 to 5 drops of each oil, but it is best to follow a recipe.

But, what is my hair type and what oils do I use?

No problem, below you will find the information on all the hair types and the corresponding oils. Also, provided is the carrier or base oils that are best for your hair type.

Oils for Normal Hair
Normal hair is neither greasy nor dry, has not been permed or colored, holds its style and is usually shiny.

These oils are best for normal hair:

• Lavender Essential Oil

• Rosemary Essential Oil

• Lemon Essential Oil

• Geranium Essential Oil

• Cedarwood Essential Oil

• Thyme Essential Oil

• Clary Sage Essential Oil

The best base or carrier oils to use are jojoba, almond or borage.

Oils for Dry Hair
Dry hair looks dull, tangles easily and can become easily split at the ends. Therefore, we want essential oils for hair that stimulate the sebaceous glands in the scalp to produce more oil!

Use these oils:

• Lavender Essential Oil

• Rosemary Essential Oil

• Sandalwood Essential Oil

• Geranium Essential Oil

The top base or carrier oils to use are almond, sesame, jojoba, borage, cocoa butter or avocado.

Oils for Oily Hair
Oily hair looks greasy and is caused by over production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. Therefore, we want essential oils for hair that restore the glands back to normal.

Use these oils:

• Lavender Essential Oil

• Rosemary Essential Oil

• Lemon Essential Oil

• Peppermint Essential Oil

• Cypress Essential Oil

The top base or carrier oils are sesame, jojoba and borage.

Other Hair Challenges? Need to Cleanse the Hair?
Do you have a specific condition that you are challenged with?

No problem, here are my recommendations.

1. Use a cleansing shampoo or cleansing oils first before you start treatment. This will remove the buildup of chlorine, grease and chemicals in your hair and scalp.

2. Pick several essential oils for hair to use for shampooing and/or make a treatment with the base oil. (You may have to experiment with several oils until you find the best match.)

3. Use until the condition improves.

4. Start to include or use oils that stimulate growth next.

I use a cleansing shampoo with lemon, rosemary, cedarwood and peppermint oils for this purpose.

Oils for Dandruff
Frustrated by dandruff? Good news!

Essential oils can be very effective in minimizing or halting the problem. The best essential oil for treating dandruff is Melaleucca alternifolia Essential Oil or Tea Tree oil.

Here are some others:

• Rosemary Essential Oil

• Lemon Essential Oil

• Lavender Essential Oil

• Cedarwood Essential Oil

• Thyme Essential Oil

• Basil Essential Oil

• Cypress Essential Oil

• Sage Essential Oil
• Melrose Blend Essential Oil

The top base or carrier oils to use are jojoba and borage.

Want your hair to grow fast? Troubled by hair loss?

Exploring the chemistry of these oils raised  red flags. The most alarming being ‘diffusing’ oils high in benzene compounds. Some are so high in benzene it might be safer to take a whiff at the gasoline pump. The aeromatic benzene rings in essential oils I beleive give them their relaxing effect as well as anti microbial properties. But any biocide is a two sided coin and it becomes a fine line between benefit and harm. I am particularly concerned about excess benzene inhalation.

Also of concern is the high VOC’s. These are very high VOC products, which is in direct contradiction to the healthy movement towards low VOC products. The terpenes in these oils when diffused into a room, especially limonene, when mixed with ozone create dangerous secondary aerosols. You will raise room levels of formaldehyde, a class one carcinogen. And acetaldehyde is another which forms when diffusing. Its very toxic.

Pets-To Vaccinate or not-

To vaccinate or not, that is the question?

The Pet Whisperer

To vaccinate or not, that is the question? What are the dogs telling Dr. Blake?

As you are all well aware the vaccination in humans and animals has been under scrutiny for over a 100 years. My personal opinions are also shared by many veterinarians around the world. The purpose of this page is to help you make an educated decision on whether to vaccinate or not for your entire family.

For the past 31 years I have stressed the following issue about vaccinations. Is the theory of vaccination practical? When we know there are an infinite number of strains of virus and bacteria, does it make any sense to try to prevent disease by injecting an infinite number of viruses and bacteria into the blood stream’s of animals and people. My answer to this question is NO. I feel the answer to preventing disease, is a healthy immune system. You can read my page on how to stay healthy .and learn what you can do to help your animals and yourselves stay healthy.

I have been encouraging my clients to not vaccinate or vaccinate less for the past 30 years. All of the cases of Distemper and Kennel cough I have seen over these many years were all vaccinated at some point in their lives. All Parvo cases I have treated post 1978′s Parvo epidemic had all been vaccinated. My reason for making this statement is that I want you to all be aware there are no guarantees whether you vaccinate or not.

The majority of my patients are unvaccinated or have only had their initial vaccines as puppies or kittens and have not vaccinated since. 95+ of all my new patients have still been vaccinated annually even though this had not been recommended in the veterinary profession for over 10 years.

The next part of this page is for those of you who are not sure you should vaccinate for parvo or distemper in your puppies. Before you read this section, please go to this link and learn more about the potential dangers of any vaccine before you make the decision to vaccinate at all.

When a client asked, “Dr. Blake should I not vaccinate my animal? I answer It depends on your fear level and the risk in your area for parvo or distemper in your individual dog’s life.” Some clients fear is too great and they feel better vaccinating for Parvo and or Distemper at the ages of 15 weeks. I explain to them if they have any feelings that they will have regrets if their dog comes down with either of these diseases and they would blame themselves for not vaccinating, I give them the following advise.

Vaccinate the puppy for Parvo at 15 weeks of age but if he has any adverse reaction to the vaccine, DO NOT vaccinate from that point on. Either way I then tell them to get a Parvo antibody titer 2 to 3 weeks later to see how well his body responded to the vaccine. If the titer is positive, he doesn’t need a second shot. If it is low and he didn’t have an adverse reaction to the vaccine, he can have a second one if need be. Remember the titer does not necessarily mean your pup is protected or not. The titer only indicates a response of the immune system to exposure to a particular etiology. I always recommend not vaccinating if there are any reactions to the vaccines at all no matter what the titer reading is. Reactions can be ear infections, increase in ear wax, excessive itching, lameness, nausea, decreased appetite, excessive licking of the feet, eye, vaginal or penis discharge, eruptions of any kind on the body after vaccinations, behavior changes of any kind, changes in the GI system or respiratory system, color of the nose pigment, inflammation of the gums, odor changes, etc.

The same goes for Distemper. I do not recommend annual booster or the use of any of the other vaccines. Rabies is the only required vaccine in all the states, none of the others. You do not need any of these vaccines to travel, only the Rabies. This is only if you are flying. If you are driving, you do not need a health certificate or any proof of vaccines to travel interstate by car. If your pet has any medical issues, your veterinarian can write and exemption for rabies and you can submit that with your license payment and get a license without revaccinating for Rabies. Some areas allow Rabies titers in leu of vaccinations. If they do not, I would recommend you get a team together and make them except it :O)

All vaccines come with a label warning from the manufacture, advising the practioner to not vaccinate animals who are not healthy. The sad part about this story is the veterinary community has set the bar so low for our animals, that as long as the animal is breathing, you can vaccinate them. I see records with pets who had ear infections, low grade fevers, eye and ear discharges, ear infections, allergic dermatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, abscessed teeth, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, auto immune disease, chronic arthritis, lameness, abscesses, Etc ., when they came to the veterinarian to evaluate their health issues and they were vaccinated in spite of having one or more of these issues. Not only are they vaccinated but for up to 10 different diseases simultaneously.

The clients are not being informed about the potential danger to their pets and are also being told their pets need these vaccinations, when their is no science to support such recommendations. This is not good medical practice and endangers the health of our animal patients.

My feeling about the future of vaccinations as we know them today, is that this practice will go the way of Bleeding did not so long ago. Supply and demand are the driving forces in any economy for the success or failure of any product. As the public becomes more educated as to the truth about vaccinations, this practice will go the way of the dinosaur.

Please share my words and my web site with all you know and ask them to do the same. I call this paying it forward.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Stephen R. Blake

I would recommend all of you contact your local agency and tell them you want them to put into place a provision that an adequate Rabies titer will replace the need for a booster shot annually or every three years depending on the ruling in your area. This is a way to stop the repeated injections of Rabies virus into our pets and preventing more damage to their immune systems.

Go to this site to learn how you can help change the laws on Rabies vaccinations

Most of my cat clients do not vaccinate their cats for anything. If they need to vaccinate, I recommend only Feline distemper ( panleukopenia) one shot at 15 weeks of age and that is it for life.

Leukemia vaccine and rabies vaccines have both been known to cause injection-site sarcomas in cats since the late 1980′s. An injection-site sarcoma is a tumor induced by an injection and is most often a vaccination injection. Some investigators estimate that post-vaccinal sarcomas occur in as many as 1 of every 1,000 to as few as 1 in every 10,000 cats vaccinated. Injection-site sarcomas are recognized only in cats. I have not recommended either of these vaccines for over 25 years. The risk from the toxic effects of these two vaccines are far greater than the chance your cat will get either. I have never seen a cat diagnosed with Rabies in the past 38 years of practice.

Dr. Christian Blake says

“The chances of a domestic cat getting rabies, is about as great as a piece of the Moon hitting you on your way to work.” and I have not seen a case of feline distemper in my practice for over 38 years.

Check out this excellent video on the difference between immunization and vaccination. Also the immediate dangers of using vaccines as we know them today.

Richard Pitcairn DVM, Ph. D (in immunology) comments on antibody titers.

There is uncertainty about the use of an antibody titer to determine protection against disease because titer does not always equate to immunity. The continuing problem in vaccine development is just this. You may have heard of some of the results, for example, with development of an AIDS vaccine. Several have been made but when given to monkeys they produce titers but increase susceptibility to the virus.

Immunity is much more complex than simply titer production as several components are involved, including cellular immunity. It is just that titer is easiest to measure. However immunologists know that titer does not equate to immunity so they can’t answer the question with confidence. The only way to determine that is field trials, and this is not commonly done, if ever. Vaccine manufacturers will test vaccines in animals for a few weeks, perhaps a few months, and then the trial is over. Of course when it is human beings, no challenges are done.

Three Important letter from my friend, Dr. Patricia Jordan, DVM , that need to be shared with all that read it. Please pay it forward.

Well, Dr. Pitcairn is a PhD in Virology! Dr. Ron Schultz is PhD in Immunology and the absolute only one that has vaccinology knowledge at PhD level. He has a great webinar you can review for free on Maddie’s Institute entitled Saving Lives with Antibody titers. You should get your “highly educated’ boss to review it.

In a short review, Schultz goes into the advocation of ONE vaccine against just the lethal viruses and to check titer 2-3 weeks after that one vaccine. He recommends the one vaccine when the pups immune system is “mature” which several ages have passed around but 15 weeks he is sure they have all “arrived”.

Off topic of this is the circulation of PhD Child Immunologists admitting that vaccinations to babies under a year of age is just plan illogical.

Dr. Schultz has information about performing nomographs and that is where he found the average times for the maternal antibody levels starting to decrease and the pups immune system getting ready to respond. you can actually determine that but the average time is about 10-12 weeks. His call that 15 weeks by sure would be the time to make the vaccine.

Now, he also does not even recommend taking titers every year or even every three years. Like Joyce Harmon has said with her horse clients……you don’t really need to repeat titers. Dr. Schultz suggest that when a dog and cat get much older like 10 for dogs and 15 for cats, you might want to pull a titer. I have found research that shows the elderly do not always even make responses to vaccines so I wouldn’t say that successful use of that titer would be to repeat vaccinations again.I also would expect a more corrupted immune system the More vaccines that were delivered, so no benefits there for sure. Vaccines actually impart damage that is accumulating, pushing that vital force towards susceptibility and gene profile expression of disease.

Now, for your boss, Dr. Schultz has already done the challenge studies, if you want I will send you a copy of them. He is also having more publications coming out.

Dr. Richard Ford had told me once if only Dr. Ron Schultz would get everything he knows about vaccines published we would not be bumbling around with erroneous information and giving these vaccines in the first place.

We all know the titer is not a test that in itself determines immunity. Immunity is carried in other places, not just antibody production. Also, there are cases of animals with sufficient titers not being immune. This could be for many reasons, just one would be the protein mutating power of both mercury and aluminum in the vaccines. They are responsible for making bad antibody through dendritic cell presentation of antigen that is misread or warped by those synergistic metallurgic protein mutators.

As a last point I would relay that I have seen Dr. Ron Schultz almost, well, actually there is no almost he screamed to us in Salt lake City, that he was “CERTAINLY NOT” advising for any of us to vaccinate every 3 years….he was saying never ever any more than that. His real belief, that not only is the yearly unnecessary and unsafe but so is the ever again administration! Right, the man himself is all about truth when he stands now behind essentially just the one for life vaccine and only for the lethal virus and never the mumbo jumbos or vaccines against bacteria or parasites.

I have had vet techs, veterinarians, and many clients see clearly that vaccines are why they have a “business”.

The idea that “if vets don’t sell the shots how will they make their money” is astounding to me. Because vaccines are essentially how they disease the pets in the first place? On what planet is that acceptable for anyone supposedly in the health care profession. It isn’t. The truth is that vaccines have been set in precedence, not science and not “evidence based medicine”. vaccinations have been “experimentation under the guise of health care delivery”. They are the bling bling of commercial scientists, not to be confused with health care. We have been tittering pups at 20 weeks never rabies vaccinated and they are covered. We have much more to understand about immunity and how it transmits vertically along the genome. J C Burnett said it best when he stated, you are BLIGHTED or you are no vaccinate at all…..

It is a very complex subject the main reason? Dr. Ron Schultz says this; veterinarians are not trained enough or know enough about immunolgoy or vaccinology to even be making any vaccine recommendations, but then again neither do their instructors at the veterinary schools. then we have licensed individuals making recommendations under the direction of practices that are “vaccine based”. This is a HUGE problem, one he has been warnign us all about since 1978 along with others like Dr. Phillips and Dr. Scott, then Dr. Alice Wolf and Dr. Richard Ford. PLENTY of the experts have been saying for decades that we should not be giving all these vaccines.

I think we can rightfully say that vaccines are that great “unknown etiology” that has been uncovered and found the cause of most of the diseases that make up Internal Medicine.

Patricia Jordan

I have found a most informative timeline article written in a personals.the site that everyone needs to get the significance of whom is watching the fall of these times. The paper cannot be scanned due to length and I have added notes that support it. I don’t even own a fax but know someone who does and could try faxing this out. Essentially this ties together the internal memos within certain companies, Eli Lilly, another from Merck, another from Pitman Moore, others, the most inflammatory Eli Lilly knew the thimerasol was not safe yet they put out the thimerasol even with information on the studies from Pitman Moore, animal studies where they proved you SHOULD NOT be using thimerasol in dogs………they did it anyway, an internal memo found from Eli Lilly stated that ‘autism was the biggest market since Alzheimers’……meaning that they found the monetary rewards for creating chronic disease to be worth making people sick ON PURPOSE. Rates of autism were steady once identified in 1943…… autoimmune disease did not exist before vaccines, autism did not exist before vaccines. In the 1970′s when George H. W. Bush became head of the Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals, he pushed for more vaccinations every few years until the final year of his presidency, 1989 when he mandated thimerasol shots for day old infants. Autism began its meteoric rise three years later.Prio to the Bush Presidency, autism rates very much lower as were the vaccines and before government mandates, only a rich kids problem.

When Bush slated all kids for vaccination, the lower classes started in with the diseases. The next pages show the collusion of the FDA CDC and WHO in spreading around the vaccine mandates as well as suppression the truth and disinformation to the public. Everyone knew mercury was a big problem, everyone played a part in covering it up. Second Bush, reneged on the emissions promise and thereby assured that the public would be exposed to a great deal more mercury in the air, would add to the mercury poisoning, Bush 2 also took back on his promise to remove thimerasol from all vaccines, despite clear cut evidence from the CDC won researchers. Sen Bill Frist, REPUBLICAN slipped in bills to protect Eli Lilly from vaccine related lawsuits, he inserted into a 2003 anti-terrorism bill. Sen Frist (yes he is a doctor) has received over $873,000 (that we know of….) from the Pharmaceutical industry. He then followed this bill with one for every state ban on thimerasol and prevented all future bands……….Frist was the one that called injury lawyers ‘predators’ and who capped medical malpractice at 250 K to the harmed victim and who got indemnification for Eli Lilly. Bush declared this the decade of the brain and now we know…….what the BUSH DOCTRINE really is about.

Just like GlaxoSmithKline created their customers for the Hep B vaccine and are now reading the PREPANDEX Pre pandemic flu vaccine, they are repeating this same scenario of creating their own customers. What these drug companies make off of the chronic disease they are causing is more than they will ever have to pay for damages in court if they ever end up there. Bush and Frist saw to that. The BUSH CDC in 2004 changed rules and recommend children and pregnant women to be vaccinated with mercury laden flu vaccines, even while admitting a mercury damage to the fetus, AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE will not decrease.

In 2006 Bush Autism program consisted of this……The Combating Autism Act prohibits any research into the link that the possible role of environmental factors and explicitly forbids any research into the possible role of vaccines and autism……..they protected Eli Lilly who invented and started the use of the mercury, stripped the harmed from gaining monetary relief from the practice of administering disease. This is the BUSH DOCTRINE and a legacy he is leaving the America People. This is ASTOUNDING information and chucked full of associate information on how what I came to see, a government mandated program to indoctrinate every American into the cycle of disease. If you want the full paper, give me either fax number or address to send snail mail. ..TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW

Ok, Here is some articles that can surely link the administration of vaccines to brain inflammation, seizures, epilepsy, and a whole host of other brain damage and learning disabilities and most of all BEHAVIORAL changes.
I would point out that yes, anesthesia and infections can also cause these types of neurological damage even the behavioral changes, but I would say that first of all the vaccines are not “legitimate” to be injecting in the first place! If we can not FIRMLY establish that vaccines are of benefit, then as this first paper raises the issue, why are we administering them in the first place? If more lethal results befall those getting the jab……why are we jabbing?
I would also mention that the vaccine itself is UNNATURAL and an immune assault itself that can lead to cell mediated immune suppression and then more susceptibility to infections with yeast, viruses, bacteria, etc IN THE FIRST PLACE. These same infections that are said to prempt antibiotics that still can induce the pathology.
If we firmly establish that the onset of vaccinations are not what is responsible for lowered infectious disease rates, than again, why is the practice still going on??????There is plenty of evidence that supports this claim and would negate the soundbytes that vaccines have been responsbile for lowered disease rates in the first place. See last paper attached.
It appears to be true that even the onset of antibiotics was not what we can hang successful treatment of certain disease processes on. With what we are finding out is the real cost of using antibiotics, to the individual and to the community, the soil and the planet……..the fact that an individuals neurological system and mental health can be compromised by using antibiotics would also bring into question why are we tolerating antibiotic use? The FDA is doing us no favors in refusing to regulate indiscriminate antibiotic use in factory farming and the toll it is taking on society along with these unsafe and unnecessary vaccination protocols are what appears to be filling up our prisons and our mental facilities and indeed causing us to realize Bush’s “Decade of the Brain”.
What reading all this material has shown me is that the “rabies miasm” that we see so often in veterinary medicine here in the US with the over use of rabies vaccines now is much more obvious as to the “effects” of vaccination “against” rabies.
Now, set aside the neurotoxicity of the mercury and aluminum in the vaccines and all they are responsible for, just the damage to the amygdala from any vaccination and then specifically the damage from the rabies vaccine and you can see…………if we are ever considering behavioral disease in any vaccinated individual, you must recognize the source of the disease from the vaccinations! I have included a few cases of human, horse and dogs but have plenty more of brain disease that presents as behavioral changes following vaccination to supposedly prevent “rabies”.What these vaccines actually did, was bring out “rabies” behaviors in those victims getting the jab in the first place!
Now, a book I sent yesterday that included 270 pages of vaccination information showed me clearly that contamination in vaccines is certainly another consideration in these jabs. Proviruses, virions, prions, besides other viruses, bacteria, mycoplasmas even retroviruses, xenotropic viruses and other entities we don’t even realize exist are all a possible gift that keeps on giving with the jabs. When we do not have conclusive evidence that the vaccination is a greater risk over infectious disease we have to keep asking ourselves why is the process allowed to continue. It also isn’t comforting to know that in 2003, 2004 and 2008 there were HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of human rabies vaccine recalled for FAILURE TO INACTIVATE THE VIRUS. THese vaccines manufactured right here in the US…… don’t want to see what I have on the rabies vaccines made in China, now India will be making them too.Or the largest drug recall in history for animals being the 2007 FORT DODGE recall of rabies vaccines that had vaccinated animals coming down with rabies following the jab.
If you read the papers above you have to have the same conclusion that Dr. Harris Coulter had made in his book, Vaccination, A Rise in Criminality and Social Violence the Assault on the American Brain-that most of these problems we have now costing our society a price we can no longer afford to pay, is indeed the vaccinations! Not just America, everyone else we have sucked into believing the vaccine hoax; Australia, Japan, UK, Canada etc……and now those we are sucking in China and India. This is not only a human tragedy, this is being done as well to the animals we even so much more are in a frenzy to vaccinate.
Harris Coulter had it all correct; from the criminally insane to the behavioral changes that would alienate someone in society, if the victim is a vaccinated victim…..the damage and therefore the source of the problem is most likely the jab in the first place.Jabs that help the drug industry into the largest money maker of all time, with selling those goavernment mandated immunizations! It is probably vaccine damage that drives the behavior of the those that want to keep jabbing in the absence of proof of benefit !
Our animals and our humans that develop brain damage following vaccinations need to be compensated but who could fill that deb to society? Animals snapping at air, having a changed pitch to their vocalizations, developing behavioral changes that might even include killing……..these are “effects” of the vaccinations. Learning disabilities, impulse control, fear of strangers, increased anxiety, agitation, aggression……… is all easily explained now, as a result of vaccinations. I believe animals do get autism. They certainly get brain damaged from these vaccines.
If you see in the first paper how critical the dose of the vaccine is and therefore the amount of neurotoxins going into a tiny victim versus a larger one, what are we doing injecting vaccines into 6 week old puppies and kitten that do not even weigh 2 pounds!!!! There are so many factors that are destroying the humans and the animals being vaccinated and yet the majority can not see this. Since the damage is cumulative and often as you will see in the first paper, permanent……..we really need to lay off the jabs until the truth is allowed to come out.
I do think this answers my questions on what the “rabies miasm” is and that it’s not a figment of imagination but real organic brain damage implemented by inserting toxins into the body. We need to find out what is going on……….a peek at the proving ground that this information is valid gives us a very poor outlook for our future with vaccines. Sincerely,

Dr. Patricia Jordan

Two Experts in the field of immunization.

The following is information I have gotten from two experts in the field of immunization. I am sharing this with you all so you know what is out there for all veterinarians to know. If your veterinarian is not aware of this information, inform he or she of this information so they can help you with reducing the amount of vaccines your animals receive.

How to help the Rabies Challenge-fund stop requiring dogs to be over vaccinated for Rabies?

Go to and learn about how you can help the research being done by Dr. Jean Dodds and Dr. Ronald Schultz. This research is being done, to prevent the continued outdated practices of requiring unnecessary Rabies vaccines in animals.

Note: All of the 27 Vet Universities in the US have followed the immunization protocol as suggested by Dr. Dodds for years

I would like to make you aware that all 27 veterinary schools in North America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats. Some of this information will present an ethical & economic challenge to Vets, and there will be skeptics. Some organizations have come up with a political compromise suggesting vaccinations every 3 years to appease those who fear loss of income vs. those concerned about potential side effects. Politics, traditions, or the doctors’ economic well-being should not be a factor in a medical decision.

Dogs’ and cats’ immune systems mature fully at 6 months. If a modified live virus vaccine is given after 6 months of age, it produces immunity, which is good for the life of the pet (i.e.,: canine distemper, parvo, feline distemper.) If another MLV vaccine is given a year later, the antibodies from the first vaccine neutralize the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect. The titer is not “boosted” nor are more memory cells induced. Not only are annual boosters for parvo and distemper unnecessary, they subject the pet to potential risks of allergic reactions and immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. There is no scientific documentation to back up label claims for annual administration of MLV vaccines. Puppies receive antibodies through their mother’s milk. This natural protection can last 8 – 14 weeks. Puppies & kittens should NOT be vaccinated at LESS than 8 weeks. Maternal immunity will neutralize the vaccine and little protection (0-38%) will be produced. Vaccination at 6 weeks will, however, DELAY the timing of the first highly effective vaccine. Vaccinations given 2 weeks apart SUPPRESS rather than stimulate the immune system. A series of vaccinations is given starting at 8 weeks and given 3-4 weeks apart up to 16 weeks of age. Another vaccination given sometime after 6 months of age will provide LIFETIME IMMUNITY.

As for Rabies vaccine, it is a law that all dogs must be vaccinated according to each state. Currently all but two states require annual vaccines and all the rest will honor three-year vaccines. Write and call your local state animal control agencies and petition for acceptance of rabies titers in lieu of repeated vaccination for licensing.

What Every Veterinarian Should Know About Canine and Feline Vaccines and Vaccination Programs – Ronald D. Schultz, PhD

As always, Dr. Schultz delivered an informative, provocative and important message to all attendees at the 2004 Conference.

General Principles

He began by reminding us that the original vaccinologists were all virologists. He then compared Innate or Natural Immunity which is nonspecific with Acquired or Adaptive Immunity which is specific. The former is present from birth, operates against any substance, and is not enhanced by prior exposure, whereas the latter is a defense mechanism, tailored to individual pathogens, and is enhanced by prior exposure. Age is related to innate immunity, as eventually there is immune senescence which plays a role in longevity. Vaccines sometimes enhance innate immunity, although they are designed to enhance acquired immunity. An example is the intranasal kennel cough vaccine, which is preferred over the parenteral version, as it stimulates innate immunity immediately.

In the presence of Protective Immunity, when re-infection occurs, the immune challenge agent(s) is recognized by pre-formed antibody and effector T-cells; rapid expansion and differentiation of the effector cells occurs; and the infectious agent(s) is removed. When Immunologic Memory is present, only mild or unapparent infection occurs; this protection may last a lifetime. Effector B-cells are plasma cells that live for at least 10 years and likely forever in the bone marrow. Sterile Immunity exists when there is no infection or unapparent re infection.

The endocrine and nervous systems are intimately interactive with the immune system, i.e. neuroendocrine system and immunity.

It was in 1978 that Ron Schultz and Fred Scott at Cornell first recommended triennial vaccination [Vet Clin N Am 8(4):755-768, 1978]. So it has taken 25 years for this recommendation to be adopted by veterinary scientists, industry, and mainstream veterinary medicine!

Cell-Mediated Immunity is not important in canine parvo virus (CPV) but very important in canine distemper virus (CDV) infections. In the presence of very low or no measurable immunity to CDV after appropriate vaccination, it is basically useless to revaccinate. Currently licensed CDV vaccines, including the recombinant (Merial) vaccine, produce excellent sustained immunity. He recommends giving MLV CDV vaccines twice, once before 12 weeks and once after 12 weeks of age, then every 3 years thereafter. For the recombinant vaccine, he recommends vaccination at 6, 8, and 12 weeks of age, then every 3 years thereafter.

Core Vaccines. These for dogs are distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus 2 (CAV-2), and rabies; for the cat, core vaccines are panleukopenia and rabies. The last dose of vaccine must be given at 12 weeks or older, and revaccination is given at 1 year of age or 1 year later. Non-Core Vaccines for dogs are Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme , and canine parainfluenza vaccines; for cats, these are calicovirus and herpes (rhinotracheitis) viruses. Canine corona virus and Giardia vaccines are generally not recommended.

Duration of Immunity

The minimum duration of immunity (DOI) is 7-10 years for CDV, CPV-2, and CAV-2. Booster vaccination more than every 3 years offers no benefit. Two methods are used to measure DOI: disease agent challenge studies, and serology measurements. But, what is the DOI for natural infection for these important pathogens? The protection generated by MLV vaccines is equivalent to that of natural infection or disease. For killed vaccines, DOI is usually less and immunity is less complete. Recovery from disease is for life with CDV, CPV-2, and CAV-2.

CPV lives in the environment for years or more, whereas CDV is fragile and survives about 15 minutes in the naked state. With CDV exposure, one has up to 72 hours to vaccinate and still induce protection, but with CPV, one has only 72 minutes. In specific pathogen-free animals, vaccination against core agents lasts at least 4 ½ years.

After only 1 dose of rabies vaccine, DOI is 5-7 years based on serologic titers.

Pfizer’s published study in January 2004 showed DOI of at least 4 years for their 5-way canine and 3-way feline vaccines. Schering Plough now guarantees their CDV, CPV, and CAV-2 vaccines for 3 years; their panleukopenia and FeLV vaccines are also guaranteed for 3 years. Fort Dodge recently showed 3–year protection after challenge studies for their CDV, CPV, and CAV-2 vaccines.

Feline Leukemia Vaccine. Recommends product by Fort Dodge or Schering Plough; 2 doses must be given 3 weeks apart, and preferably at 9 and 12 weeks of age. No measurable titers are typically found, and no more vaccines are needed for cats over 1 year of age as FeLV is not that contagious.

Lyme disease. Infection and disease seen mostly in northeast and around the Great Lakes region. Vaccination is generally not recommended except in high-risk areas, and then only the recombinant vaccine is recommended at the beginning of the tick season. [Generally good advice to avoid bacterin vaccines, whenever possible, as they are immune modulators (e.g. Lyme, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella parenterals; intranasal Bordetella is satisfactory).]

Leptospirosis Vaccine. As a zoonotic disease, there is concern about contagion with leptospira spp. However, vaccination does not prevent against shedding of the organism, so it is not protective of others. Even 2 vaccinations and annual boosters will not adequately protect against re-infection, because of the short-lived immunity induced (several months). Hypersensitivity reactions to leptosirosis vaccines (Type I hypersensitivity) are long-lived, and can be recalled acutely even after 4 years. Many dogs now have measurable titers against L. bratislava and L. autumnalis, but they do not have disease unless titers are in the thousands and clinical signs are present. Serovars of leptospira spp. cross-react, especially with L. grippotyphosa, L. pomona , L. canicola, and L. icterohemorrhagiae.

Kennel Cough Vaccines. In 5,000 dogs studied in shelters, it made no difference which vaccines were given, as some dogs still got kennel cough. Upper respiratory infection is endemic in most pounds and shelters because of the crowding, poor ventilation, and variable hygiene. Kennel cough vaccines are basically useless, as natural immunization is ubiquitous.

Recombinant Vaccine. Good for use in shelters as are more likely to overcome maternal immunity. CDV recombinant can boost immunity rapidly in 90% of cases, whereas MLV CDV can do so in only about 10%. Excellent antibody titers are produced to the rCDV product, and they don’t cause immunosuppression like MLV vaccines. Merial’s recombinant CDV vaccine should be given at 6, 8, and 12 weeks of age , and then 3 years later. A question remains about the induction of autoimmune disease with recombinant vaccines, although hypersensitivity reactions should not occur. Naked DNA vaccines are being developed, as the next stage of vaccinology.

Horses. Generally, equine vaccines perform poorly (give one year or no immunity). Must ignore information about dogs, cats, and humans when dealing with horse vaccines. Even the newer equine influenza vaccine gives immunity for only about 11 months. Equine herpes vaccines are lousy, giving immunity for only 2-3 months in attempting to prevent herpes abortion, but these vaccines should never be given to pregnant mares, despite common recommendation to do so.

Tetanus vaccines produce good 3-year immunity. For West Nile Virus (WNV) vaccine, 2 doses are given 2-3 weeks apart at 6 months of age, but duration is only about 6 months. The newer WNV vaccines give 11-12 months immunity.

Vaccine Non-Responders or Poor Responders. The estimated frequency of these low responders is 1:1000-1:10,0000, and is genetically determined. It more likely occurs with CPV than CDV (10 times less) or CAV-2 (100 times less) vaccines, especially in Dobermans and Rottweilers, although most of these bloodlines have died off now. Non-responders to one vaccine are unlikely to be non-responders to another vaccine agent.

“The tendency of a mass vaccination program is to herd people. People are not cattle or sheep. They should not be herded. A mass vaccination program carries a built-in temptation to oversimplify the problem; to exaggerate the benefits; to minimize or completely ignore the hazards; to discourage or silence scholarly, thoughtful and cautious opposition; to create an urgency where none exists; to whip up an enthusiasm among citizens that can carry with it the seeds of impatience, if not intolerance; to extend the concept of the police power of the state in quarantine far beyond its proper limitation; to assume simplicity when there is actually great complexity; to continue to support a vaccine long after it has been discredited;… to ridicule honest and informed consent.[1]” more…

The next pandemic will be spread by scientists working for the vaccine manufacturers – This sounds like a bold prediction, I realize, but there is significant evidence pointing in this direction. For example, Baxter got caught shipping vaccines containing live viruses (, and the IOM has now openly admitted that measles vaccines actually cause the measles (…). Vaccines, it turns out, are the perfect way to infect the population with a pandemic resulting in the fearful masses seek out more vaccines! (Gee, talk about repeat business…)
And, of course, there is a long, long history of vaccine manufacturers using human beings as guinea pigs for medical experiments (, so have no illusions about their total lack of ethics and human compassion. They will murder a child with a smile on their face if it makes them an extra dollar in profits.

New report reveals how corporations undermine science with fake bloggers and bribes

You’ve probably heard about how the tobacco industry tried to suppress scientific evidence that smoking causes cancer by publishing shady research, bribing politicians, and pressuring researchers. But you may not have realized that tabacco’s dirty tricks are just the tip of the iceberg. In a disturbing new report published by the Union of Concerned Scientists about corporate corruption of the sciences, you’ll learn about how Monsanto hired a public relations team to invent fake people who harassed a scientific journal online, how Coca Cola offers bribes to suppress evidence that soft drinks harm kids’ teeth, and more. Here are some of the most egregious recent examples of corruption from this must-read report.

The report is a meaty assessment of corporate corruption in science that stretches back to incidents with Big Tobacco in the 1960s, up through contemporary examples. Here are just a few of those.

One way that corporations prevent negative information about their products from getting out is by harassing scientists and the journals that publish them. Here’s how Monsanto did it:

Dr. Ingacio Chapela of the University of California–Berkeley and graduate student David Quist published an article in Nature showing that DNA from genetically modified corn was contaminating native Mexican corn. The research spurred immediate backlash. Nature received a number of letters to the editor, including several comments on the Internet from “Mary Murphy” and “Andura Smetacek” accusing the scientists of bias. The backlash prompted Nature to publish an editorial agreeing that the report should not have been published. However, investigators eventually discovered that the comments from Murphy and Smetacek originated with The Bivings Group, a public relations firm that specializes in online communications and had worked for Monstanto. Mary Murphy and Andura Smetacek were found to be fictional names.

Corporations also form front organizations to hide their efforts to undermine science. That’s what happened when producers of unhealthy food got together to cast doubt on the FDA’s recommended health guidelines:

The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit that targets dietary guidelines recommended by the FDA, other government agencies, medical associations, and consumer advocacy organizations. The center has run ads and owns a website that accuses government agencies of overregulation, and has published articles claiming to refute evidence that high salt intake and other dietary guidelines are based on inadequate science. The center was founded with a $600,000 grant from Philip Morris, but has also received funding from Cargill, National Steak and Poultry, Monsanto, Coca-Cola, and Sutter Home Winery.

Sometimes corporations just go for it and buy off legit organizations, as Coca Cola did when they appear to have paid dentists to stop saying kids shouldn’t drink Coke:

In 2003, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry accepted a $1 million donation from Coca-Cola. That year, the group claimed that “scientific evidence is certainly not clear on the exact role that soft drinks play in terms of children’s oral disease.” The statement directly contradicted the group’s previous stance that “consumption of sugars in any beverage can be a significant factor…that contributes to the initiation and progression of dental caries.”

Corporations can also unduly influence federal agencies, as ReGen did when they wanted their device approved for trials by the FDA, despite serious medical problems:

ReGen Biologics attempted to gain FDA approval for clinical trials of Menaflex, a device it developed to replace knee cartilage. After an FDA panel rejected the device, the company enlisted four members of Congress from its home state of New Jersey to influence the evaluation process. In December 2007, Senator Frank Lautenberg, Senator Robert Menendez, and Representative Steve Rothman wrote to FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach asking him to personally look into Menaflex. Soon thereafter, the commissioner met with ReGen executives and heeded the company’s advice to have Dr. Daniel Shultz, head of the FDA’s medical devices division, oversee a new review. The FDA fast-tracked and approved the product despite serious concerns from the scientific community.

If bribery doesn’t work, you can always censor negative results, the way pharmaceutical company Boots did:

Boots commissioned Dr. Betty Dong, a scientist at the University of California–San Francisco, to test the effects of Synthroid, a replacement for thyroid hormone. Boots hoped to reveal that despite its high price, Synthroid was more effective than similar drugs. The company closely monitored the research, and when Dong found that the drug was no more effective than its competitors, instructed her not to publish the results. When she refused to comply, Boots threatened to sue. The company relented only after several years, during which consumers continued to pay for the costly product.

You can also try “refuting” scientific results with bad evidence, the way the formaldehyde industry did:

To counter a study that found that formaldehyde caused cancer in rats, a formaldehyde company commissioned its own study. That study-which found no association between the chemical and cancer-exposed only one-third the number of rats to formaldehyde for half as long as the original study. A formaldehyde association quickly publicized the results and argued before the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that they indicated “no chronic health effects from exposure to the level of formaldehyde normally encountered in the home”

And then, if you’re Pfizer, you can just generate as much favorable research as you like to bolster sales of a drug, despite your discovery that the drug increases risk of suicide:

From 1998 to 2007, Pfizer discreetly facilitated the publication of 15 case studies, six case reports, and nine letters to the editor to boost off-label use of Neurontin, a drug prescribed to treat seizures in people who have epilepsy and nerve pain. The number of patients taking the drug rose from 430,000 to 6 million, making it one of Pfizer’s most profitable products. An investigation found that Pfizer had failed to publish negative results, selectively reported outcomes, and excluded specific patients from analysis. [Most importantly] Pfizer failed to note that the drug increased the risk of suicide.

HEMP Amazing facts

Hempthanks to for this info

There is no doubt in our minds that, from the            beginning of human existence until 1937, hemp was the            most important crop that man used. Food, fuel,            clothing, shelter — all available in a package the            size of a peppercorn, which will grow anywhere man            can live. When the US politicians regain some sanity, the queen of crops will return from exile.

Earliest History

16th-18th Century: Hemp was a major fiber crop in            Russia, Europe and North America. Ropes and sails were            made of hemp because of its great strength and its            resistance to rotting. Hemp’s other historical uses were            of course paper (bibles, government documents, bank            notes) and textiles (paper, canvas), but also paint,              printing inks, varnishes, and building materials. Hemp            was a major crop until the 1920’s, supplying the world            with its main supply of food and fiber (80% of clothing            was made from Hemp).

17-18th Century: Hemp was legal tender in most of the            Americas. It was even used to pay taxes, to encourage            farmers to grow more, to ensure America’s            independence.

1715, 1726 and 1730: Pro-hemp acts were signed to cut            European imports, to help the struggling colonies, who            spun hemp cloth, and printed bibles and maps on hemp            paper, drive for self-sufficiency.

1720 – 1870: Every township in Lancaster County            Pennsylvania grew hemp, flourishing just before the            Revolution. There were more than 100 mills that processed            hemp fiber.

1812: War of: Sailors outfitted and propelled the U.S.            frigate Constitution “Old Ironsides” with more than 60            tons of hempen rope and sail.

Early 19th Century: The advent of steam and oil            powered ships reduced demand for hempen rigging.

19th Century: Center of hemp production shifted to the            Midwest

1835: Hemp spreads to Missouri. Hemp grown at            Californian missions.

1850: The United States Census counted 8,327 hemp            plantations growing it for cloth, canvas, and other            necessities.

After 1850: Hemp lost ground to cheaper products made            of cotton, jute, sisal and petroleum. Hemp was processed            by hand, which was very labor intensive and costly, not            lending itself towards modern commercial production.

1863: Abraham Lincoln wrote the Emancipation            Proclamation under light of hemp oil lamp.

1875: Hemp is introduced to Champaign IL, Minnesota by            1880, Nebraska by 1887, California by 1912, and Wisconsin            and Iowa by the early 1920s.

Late 19th Century: The American west was tamed with            hemp lassos and hemp canvas covered wagons. Hemp oil was            used extensively in lighting oil, paints, and            varnishes.

Late 19th & early 20th centuries: Increasing labor            costs encouraged a gradual shift away from hemp to            cotton, jute, and tropical fibers which were less labor            intensive. Hemp was used only for cordage and specialty            products like birdseed and varnish.

1892: Rudolph Diesel invented diesel engine, intended            especially for vegetable and seed oils.

1915: California outlaws Cannabis.

1916: Recognizing that timber supplies are finite,            USDA Bulletin 404 calls for new program of expansion of            Hemp to replace uses of timber by industry.

1917: American George W. Schlichten patented a new            machine for separating the fiber from the internal woody            core (“hurds”), reducing labor costs by over 90% and            increasing fiber yield by 600%. That, combined with            new technology to fashion paper and plastics from            hemp-derived cellulose, gradually breathed new life into            the industry.

1919: Texas outlaws cannabis.

1920-1940: Economic power is consolidated in hands of            small number of steel, oil and munitions companies, such            as Dupont, which became the US’s primary munitions            manufacturer. Dupont developed and patented fuel            additives such as tetraethyl lead and other petroleum            based products like nylon, cellophane and plastics during            this time. Mexican rebels seize prime timberland from            land belonging to newspaper magnate, paper and timber            baron, William Randolph Hearst.

1920-1970: Oil Barons Rockefeller, Standard Oil, and            Rothschild of Shell, etc., realized the possibilities of            Henry Ford’s vision of cheap methanol fuel, so they kept            oil prices at between one dollar and four dollars a            barrel (almost 42 gallons in a barrel), so that no other            energy source could compete with it, until 1970, after            all competition was erased, when the price of oil jumped            to almost $40/barrol over the next 10 years.

1931: Andrew Mellon, The Treasury Secretary, and Head            of Bank of Pittsburgh, which loaned Dupont 80% of its            money, appoints his niece’s husband, Harry J. Anslinger, to            head newly formed Federal Bureau of Narcotics (later            becoming the DEA).

1930s: Following action by the Federal Bureau of            Narcotics and a campaign by William Randolph Hearst,            propaganda is created against hemp from companies with            vested interest in the new petroleum-based synthetic            textiles. Even though hemp reinvented itself, thanks to            new technology that eased processing and expanded its            use, the timber (Hearst) and oil interests (Dupont,            Anslinger, Mellon) crushed competition from plant-based            cellulose by demonizing marijuana, and paralleling its            use to Mexican immigrants and later Black jazz musicians.            The effects of marijuana are demonized with such movies            as “Marijuana: assassin of youth,” Devil’s weed,” and            “Reefer Madness.” Throughout this assault hemp’s link to            marijuana is exaggerated.

1937: DuPont Corporation patents processes for making            plastics from oil and coal. The Marijuana Tax Act is            passed, a prohibitive tax on hemp in the USA, effectively            destroying the industry. Anslinger testifies to congress            that ‘Marijuana’ is the most violence causing drug known            to man. The objections by the American Medical            Association (The AMA only realized that ‘Marijuana’ was            in fact Cannabis or Hemp two days before the start of            hearing) and the National Oil Seed Institute are            rejected.

1937 – late 60s: US government understood and            acknowledged that Industrial Hemp and marijuana were not            the same plant.

1938: Popular Mechanics magazine, nearly at the same            time as the Marijuana tax act goes into effect, touts            hemp as first “billion dollar crop” and lists over 25,000            uses.

In 1938: Canada prohibits marijuana, and thus hemp            production, under the Opium and Narcotics Control            Act.

1940: World production of hemp peaked at about 832,000            tons of fiber.

1941: Popular Mechanics Magazine reveals details of            Henry Ford’s plastic car made using hemp and fueled from            hemp. Henry Ford continued to illegally grow hemp for            some years after the Federal ban, hoping to become            independent of the petroleum industry.

1941-1945: Hemp for Victory

During World War II, Japan cut off our supplies of                vital hemp and coarse fibers. The hemp was needed for                making, among other things, rope, webbing, and canvas, to                be used on navy ships. So a program was started to grow                hemp for military use under the banner of “Hemp For                Victory”. After the war, licenses were subsequently                revoked; concurrent with the last hemp crops being                grown in the U.K.

The U. S. Department of Agriculture              released an educational film called “Hemp for Victory”,              which showed farmers how to grow and harvest industrial              hemp. Hemp harvesting machinery was made available at low              or no cost. From 1942 to 1945, farmers who agreed to grow              hemp were waived from serving in the military, along with              their sons; that’s how vitally important hemp was to              America during World War II. The fields of hemp were              termed victory gardens, as were the backyard vegetable gardens also urged by the government.

1942: Patriotic farmers plant 36,000 acres of seed            hemp, an increase of several thousand percent from the            previous year.

1943: Both the US and German governments urge their            patriotic farmers to grow hemp for the war effort. The US            shows farmers a short film – ‘Hemp for Victory’ which the            government later pretends never existed. The United            States government has published numerous reports and            other documents on hemp dating back to the beginnings of            our country.

1945: The war ends and so does “Hemp for Victory”.            Feral hemp, “ditch weed”, still lines the back roads,            waterways, and irrigation ditches of most Midwestern            states, 60 years descended from “Hemp for Victory!”

1961: UN treaty allows for the cultivation of            industrial hemp.

1968: The last legal hemp crop is grown in            Minnesota

1970: The Controlled Substances Act (CSA) of 1970            recognizes industrial hemp as marijuana, despite the fact            that a specific exemption for hemp was included in the            CSA under the definition of marijuana. “Marijuana            Transfer Tax” declared unconstitutional by the US Supreme            Court.

1971: In Canada, cannabis, thus industrial hemp,            became caught up in the politics of the Opiate laws and            became classed as a restricted plant under the misuse of            drugs act.

1970s: ‘Spinning Jenny’ is invented and cotton prices            fall dramatically, making hemp’s demise in the Americas            complete.

Early 1990s: Global hemp production sank to its lowest            level.

Hemp’s Revival

1991: Hempcore become the first British company to            obtain a license to grow hemp.

Since 1992: France, the Netherlands, England,            Switzerland, Spain, and Germany have passed legislation            allowing for the commercial cultivation of low-THC hemp.            In fact, the E.U. has recently been promoting hemp            cultivation by providing subsidies of approximately $1400            per hectare to grow hemp.

1992: 124,000 tonnes of hemp fiber are produced by            mainly India, China, Russia, Korea and Romania, countries            where the cultivation of hemp has never been            prohibited.

1994: One license granted to Canadian company, Hempline            Inc., to grow low-THC hemp under the strict supervision            of the authorities, for research purposes only. President            Clinton included hemp as a strategic food source in an            executive order.

1995: In England, The Cornish Hemp Company Ltd was set            up to produce hemp and set up the infrastructure to            realize the current potential for industry.

1996: The American Farm Bureau Federation, the largest            farming organization in the United States with 4.6            million members, passed a resolution unanimously to            research hemp and grow test plots.

1998: March: Canada passes proposed regulations, and            as a result hemp can be grown commercially in Canada for            the first time in sixty years.

1998: The Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota legalized hemp.

1998: While running for governor, Jesse Ventura            announces his support for industrial hemp. Within weeks            Venturaís numbers jump from 7% to 38%.

1999: 14 States introduced legislation that endorsed            the commercialization of industrial hemp with varying            success. Hawaii gets permit from DEA to plant an            industrial hemp test field.

2000-2002: Alex White Plume grows hemp on Pine Ridge            Lakota Sioux reservation in SD and the DEA destroy the            crops near harvest time, not making any arrests, thereby            distinguishing between marijuana and hemp.

Nov. 2000: Alex White Plume and his family receive            hemp from the Kentucky Hemp Growers to replace the hemp            destroyed in the two years prior by the DEA.

2001: “Hemp car” crosses North America using hemp            bio-diesel fuel, stops in Watertown SD.

Oct. 9, 2001: DEA arbitrarily bans all hemp foods in            order to disrupt the domestic market. Hemp importers and            their suppliers sue. Supreme Court temporarily injoins            implementation of DEA’s unilateral proclamation. Still in            court.

May 2002: South Dakota becomes first state to get the            issue of industrial hemp farming on the state ballot. A            poll indicates that 85% of registered South Dakotans            favor legalizing industrial hemp.

Aug 2002: Alex White Plume becomes first farmer since            1968 to cultivate and sell a hemp crop in the United            States. The crop is bought by  Madison Hemp &            Flax, a Kentucky company.

Nov 2002: So. Dak. voters reject industrial hemp, but            38% vote for it. Hemp wins on Indian reservations.

Feb. 2004: 9th Circuit US Court of Appeals holds that            DEA can not regulate hemp foods.

Currently: Hawaii’s, West Virginia’s, Minnesota’s, Montana’s, and North Dakota’s legislatures have passed laws removing state barriers to hemp production, but the federal government refuses to allow them to grow hemp. You don’t have to get an online MBA to understand how advantageous it would be to grow hemp in the US, nor do you need an online masters in criminal justice to realize that  hemp products should not be outlawed. Most hemp materials are imported from China, Hungary, and  Canada.
