Hahnemann’s words on Modern-day Allopathic Medicine

The whole art of medicine as hitherto practised, though it has been, for want of something better, practised for these 2500 years by millions of physicians, many of whom were earnest high-minded men, is yet in every respect an extremely stupid, useless and thoroughly null affair, is proved by the following few incontrovertible considerations.

Unaided reason can know nothing of itself (a priori), can evolve out of itself alone no conception of the nature of things, of cause and effect; every one of its conclusions about the actual must always be based on sensible perceptions, facts and experiences if it would elicit the truth. If in its operation it should deviate by a single step from the guidance of perception, it would lose itself in the illimitable region of phantasy and of arbitrary speculation, the mother of pernicious illusion and of absolute nullity.

In the pure sciences of experience, in physics, chemistry and medicine, merely speculative reason can consequently have no voice; there when it acts alone, it degenerates into empty speculation and phantasy, and produces only hazardous hypotheses, which in millions of instances are, and by their very nature must be, self-deception and falsehood.

Such has hitherto been the splendid juggling of so-called theoretical medicine, in which a priori conceptions and speculative subtleties raised a number of proud schools, which only showed what each of their founders had dreamed about things which could not be known, and which were of no use for the cure of diseases.

Out of these sublime systems, soaring far beyond all experience, medical practice could obtain nothing available for actual treatment. So it pursued its course confidently at the patient’s bedside in accord with the traditional prescriptions of its books telling how physicians had hitherto treated, and in conformity with the methods of its practical authorities, unconcerned, like them, about the teachings of nature-guided experience, unconcerned about true reasons for its treatment, and quite content with the key to easy practice – the prescription book.

A healthy, unprejudiced, conscientious examination of this confused business shows plainly that what has hitherto gone by the name of the art of medicine was merely a pseudo-scientific fabrication, remodelled from time to time to meet the prevailing fashion in medical systems, like Gellert’s hat in the fable, but, as regards the treatment of disease, ever the same blind pernicious method.

A healing art conformable to nature and experience did not exist. Everything in traditional medicine was the outcome of art and imagination, having no foundation in experience, but pranked out in the habiliments of probability.

The object of cure (the disease) was manufactured to order by pathology. It was arbitrarily settled what diseases, how many and what forms and kinds there should be. Just think! The whole range of diseases, produced in innumerable and always unforeseeable rariety by infinite Nature in human beings exposed to thousands of different conditions, the pathologist cuts down so ruthlessly that a mere handful of cut and dry forms is the result!

The wiseacres define diseases a priori, and attributed to them transcendental substrata not warranted by experience (how could plain pure experience ever sanction such fantastic dreams?); no! they pretended to possess an insight into the inner nature of things and the invisible vital processes, which no mortal can have.

Now, in order to decide on something positive with regard to the instruments of cure, the powers of the different medicines in the materia medica were inferred from their physical, chemical and other irrelevant qualities, also from their odour, taste and external aspect, but chiefly from impure experiences at the sick bed, where, in the tumult of the morbid symptoms, only mixtures of medicines were prescribed for imperfectly described cases of disease. Just think! the dynamic spiritual power of altering man’s health hidden in the invisible interior of medicines, and never manifested purely and truly in any other way than by their effects on the healthy human body, was arbitrarily ascribed to them, without interrogating the medicines themselves in this only admissible way of pure experiment, and listening to their response when so questioned!

Then therapeutics taught how to apply the medicines, whose qualities had been thus inferred, ascribed or imagined, to the supposed fundamental cause or to single symptoms of disease, in conformity with the rule contraria contrariis of the hypothesis-framer Galen, and in direct opposition to nature; and this doctrine was held to be more than sufficiently established if eminent authorities could be adduced in support of it.

All these unnatural human doctrines, after being connected together by all sorts of illogical false deductions, were then welded into scholastic forms by the noble art that devotes itself to division, subdivision and tabellation, and lo! the manufactured article, the art of medicine, was ready for use, – a thing the most opposed to nature and experience it is possible to conceive, a structure built up entirely of the opinions of various kinds furnished by thousands of differently constituted minds. In all its parts this edifice is a pure nullity, a pitiable self-deception, eminently fitted to imperil human life by its methods of treatment, blindly counter to the end proposed, incessantly ridiculed by the wisest men of all ages, and labouring under the curse of not being what it professes to be, and not being able to perform what it promises.

Sober, unprejudiced reflection, on the other hand, can easily convince us that to hold correct views about every case of disease we have to cure, to obtain an accurate knowledge of the true powers of medicines, to employ them on a plan adapted to each morbid condition and to administer them in proper dose, – in a word, the complete true healing art, can never be the work of self-satisfied ratiocination and illusory opinions, but that the requisites for this, the materials as well as the rules for its exercise, are only to be discovered by due attention to nature by means of our senses, by careful honest observations and by experiments conducted with all possible purity, and in no other way; and, rejecting every falsifying admixture of arbitrary dicta, must be faithfully sought in this the only way commensurate to the high value of precious human life.

It remains to be seen if by my conscientious labours in this way the true healing art has been found.

The biotech industry claims that the FDA has thoroughly evaluated GM foods and found them safe. This is untrue. Internal FDA documents made public from a lawsuit, reveal that agency scientists warned that GM foods might create toxins, allergies, nutritional problems, and new diseases that might be difficult to identify.131-140 Although they urged their superiors to require long-term tests on each GM variety prior to approval, the political appointees at the agency, including a former attorney for Monsanto, ignored the scientists. Official policy claims that the foods are no different130 and do NOT require safety testing. A manufacturer can introduce a GM food without even informing the government or consumers.146 A January 2001 report from an expert panel of the Royal Society of Canada said it was “scientifically unjustifiable”136 to presume that GM foods are safe. Likewise, a 2002 report by the UK’s Royal Society said that genetic modification “could lead to unpredicted harmful changes in the nutritional state of foods,” and recommended that potential health effects of GM foods be rigorously researched before being fed to pregnant or breast-feeding women, elderly people, those suffering from chronic disease, and babies.263

How could the government approve dangerous foods? A close examination reveals that industry manipulation and political collusion-not sound science-was the driving force.

  • Government employees who complained were harassed, stripped of responsibilities, or fired.77-83
  • Scientists were threatened. Evidence was stolen. Data was omitted or distorted. Some regulators even claimed they were offered bribes to approve a GM product.

There are only about two dozen published, peer-reviewed animal feeding studies on the health effects of GM foods.

  • One study showed evidence of damage to the immune system and vital organs, and a potentially pre-cancerous condition.12-13 When the scientist tried to alert the public about these alarming discoveries, he lost his job and was silenced with threats of a lawsuit.18-20
  • Two other studies also showed evidence of a potentially pre-cancerous condition. The other seven studies, which were superficial in their design, were not designed to identify these details.37
  • In an unpublished study, laboratory rats fed a GM crop developed stomach lesions and seven of the forty died within two weeks. The crop was approved without further tests.37, 137-140

Many industry studies appear to be rigged to find no problems. In the case of a genetically engineered bovine growth hormone (rbGH), for example, researchers injected cows with only one forty-seventh the normal dosage before reporting hormone residues in milk.91-92 They heated the milk 120 times longer than standard, to report that pasteurization destroys the hormone.93-94 They added cows to their study that were pregnant before treatment, to claim that rbGH didn’t impede fertility.89 Cows that fell sick were dropped from studies altogether.80-81

With soybeans, serious nutritional differences between GM and natural soy were omitted from a published paper.35-36 Feeding studies masked any problems by using mature animals instead of developing ones and by diluting their GM soy 10 to 1 with non-GM protein.34

There are no adequate tests to verify that GM food will not create dangerous allergic reactions. While an international organization developed testing standards to minimize the possibility of allowing allergenic GM varieties on the market, GM corn currently sold in the U.S. has not been subjected to those tests and would most certainly fail them. One of these tests, for example, uses a test tube simulation to evaluate how long a potential GM allergen can last inside the digestive system before being broken down. Compared to the recommended international standards, however, one biotech company used a far stronger acid concentration and more than 1,250 times the recommended amount of a digestive enzyme to make the claim that their protein degrades too quickly to cause a reaction.179

The only human feeding trial ever conducted confirmed that genetically engineered genes from soy transferred to the bacteria inside the digestive tract. (The biotech industry had previously said that such a transfer was impossible.) The World Health Organization, the British and American Medical Associations, and several other groups have expressed concern that if the “antibiotic resistant marker genes” used in GM foods got transferred to bacteria, it could create super-diseases that are immune to antibiotics.59-60 More worrisome is that the “promoter” used inside GM foods could get transferred to bacteria or internal organs. Promoters act like a light switches, permanently turning on genes that might otherwise be switched off. Scientists believe that this might create unpredictable health effects, including the potentially pre-cancerous cell growth found in the animal feeding studies mentioned above.37

The biotech industry says that millions have been eating GM foods without ill effect.This is misleading.

  • About 100 people died and 5-10,000 to fell seriously ill when they consumed the food supplement L-tryptophan. Only those who consumed the variety that was genetically modified became ill. That brand had minute, but deadly contaminants that would easily pass through current regulations today. If the disease it created had not been rare and acute, with crippling and deadly symptoms, the GM supplement might never have been traced as the cause. Once discovered, however, industry and government covered up facts and diverted the blame. Even the FDA testimony before Congress withheld vital information.107-125

  • Milk from rbGH-treated cows contains an increased amount of the hormone IGF-1, which is one of the highest risk factors associated with breast and prostate cancer, among others.94-97
  • Soy allergies skyrocketed by 50% in the UK, coinciding with the introduction of GM soy imports from the U.S.160-161

According to a March 2001 report, the Center for Disease Control says that food is responsible for twice the number of illnesses in the U.S. compared to estimates just seven years earlier. This increase roughly corresponds to the period when Americans have been eating GM food. Could that be contributing to the 5,000 deaths, 325,000 hospitalizations, and 76 million illnesses related to food each year? Might it play in role in our national epidemic of obesity or the rise in diabetes or lymphatic cancers? We have no way of knowing if there is a connection because no one has looked for one.

One of the most dangerous aspects of genetic engineering is the closed thinking and consistent effort to silence those with contrary evidence or concerns. Just before stepping down from office, former Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman admitted the following:

“What I saw generically on the pro-biotech side was the attitude that the technology was good, and that it was almost immoral to say that it wasn’t good, because it was going to solve the problems of the human race and feed the hungry and clothe the naked… And there was a lot of money that had been invested in this, and if you’re against it, you’re Luddites, you’re stupid. That, frankly, was the side our government was on… You felt like you were almost an alien, disloyal, by trying to present an open-minded view”152-153

Contrast this with the warning by the editors of Nature Biotechnology: “The risks in biotechnology are undeniable, and they stem from the unknowable in science and commerce. It is prudent to recognize and address those risks, not compound them by overly optimistic or foolhardy behavior.” 137

The biotech industry and the government have been foolhardy indeed. Blinded, perhaps by the baseless myth that GM foods are needed to feed the world,250-251  they gamble with our health and support their safety claims on obsolete or unproven assumptions. Accepting their vacuous assurances by eating these dangerous foods or serving them to your customers may likewise be overly optimistic or foolhardy.

Please read the evidence amassed in the book Seeds of Deception by Jeffrey M. Smith. The meticulously documented facts leave no doubt about a massive injustice. The topic is too important to put this off until tomorrow.

Dutch Article on Homeopathy

Homeopathie geeft een belangrijke verbetering van de levenskwaliteit van chronisch zieken. Een recent groot Brits onderzoek [1] en een uitgebreide Duits-Zwitserse studie [2] tonen dit aan. Bij duizenden chronisch zieken werden gedurende twee tot zes jaar veranderingen in kwaliteit van leven, welbevinden en de ernst van het ziekteverloop gevolgd.

 

Het homeopathisch ziekenhuis in Bristol publiceerde onlangs de cijfers van alle 6.544 patiënten met chronische ziekten die in de afgelopen zes jaar de polikliniek bezochten. De meest voorkomende diagnoses waren eczeem, astma, migraine, prikkelbare darmsyndroom, overgangsklachten, depressieve klachten en chronisch vermoeidheidssyndroom. De meeste patiënten hadden al een hele geschiedenis van specialistische behandelingen achter de rug, voordat ze homeopathische hulp zochten. Bij deze groep chronisch ziekten is verbetering van de kwaliteit van leven vaak het hoogst haalbare behandeldoel. Bij 70 % van de patiënten werden positieve veranderingen gerapporteerd, 50% van hen beschreef hun toestand als ‘beter’ of ‘veel beter’. Dit kon zowel een vooruitgang in de algemene gezondheidstoestand en het welbevinden zijn, als een vermindering van frequentie of zwaarte van acute aanvallen of verergeringen.

In de Duits-Zwitserse studie werd gedurende twee jaar het ziekteverloop gemeten bij 3.981 patiënten die voor het eerst een aanvullende homeopathische behandeling zochten. 103 artsen die zich gespecialiseerd hadden in homeopathie namen deel aan het onderzoek. Het onderzoeksteam van de Charité Universiteit in Berlijn onderzocht allereerst welke patiënten om homeopathische behandeling vroegen. 97 % van hen had een chronische ziekte die bij de volwassenen gemiddeld al 8 jaar duurde, bij de kinderen 3 jaar. De meest voorkomende diagnoses in dit onderzoek waren hooikoorts(mannen), hoofdpijn (vrouwen) en eczeem (kinderen). Voorafgaand aan de homeopathische behandeling onderging 95 % van hen reeds een conventionele behandeling. Bij al deze patiënten werden de veranderingen in de kwaliteit van leven gemeten, gedurende de tijd dat ze tevens een homeopathische behandeling kregen. Een duidelijke verbetering van de levenskwaliteit werd gevonden bij volwassenen en jongere patiënten, niet bij adolescenten. Opvallend was de verbetering bij chronisch zieken met ernstige klachten. Het gemiddelde gebruik van reguliere medicijnen verminderde in de totale groep van 45.0 % naar 26,8%.

Deze gegevens bevestigen de ervaringen van veel chronisch zieken in Nederland. De Artsenvereniging voor homeopathie VHAN wil dergelijk onderzoek ook in Nederland helpen opzetten en stimuleren en zal daarin ook participeren. Voor zorgverzekeraars biedt dit een interessante optie om kosten te besparen op geneesmiddelgebruik.

Homeopathische geneeskunde

Homeopathie is een geneeswijze die zich baseert op een belangrijke natuurwet ontdekt door de arts en scheikundige Samuel Hahnemann ( 1755-1843). Hij ontdekte dat een stof die bij gezonde mensen bepaalde verschijnselen opwekt, ook in staat is dezelfde soort verschijnselen bij zieken te genezen. Vandaar het woord ‘homeo’, gelijkende. Volgens de leer van de homeopathie ontstaan ziekten door een verstoring van het natuurlijk evenwicht. Door samen met de patiënt te zoeken naar de oorzaken van deze verstoring, probeert de homeopathische arts dit evenwicht, lichamelijk èn psychisch, te herstellen.

Homeopathie voor iedereen

Homeopathie kan veilig worden toegepast bij allerlei klachten en is geschikt voor elke leeftijd. Vanwege haar mildheid wordt homeopathie bijvoorbeeld vaak toegepast bij kinderen. Bij veel chronisch zieken geeft homeopathie goede resultaten omdat de gezondheidstoestand en het welbevinden verbetert. Homeopathie helpt bovendien de bijwerkingen van reguliere middelen verminderen, zoals bijvoorbeeld bij kanker.

Homeopathie is onafhankelijk van elke ideologie of geloofsrichting en wordt over de gehele wereld toegepast. De laatste decennia heeft wetenschappelijk onderzoek overtuigende resultaten opgeleverd. Driekwart van de Nederlanders staat positief tegenover homeopathie. Het is immers een milde en effectieve manier om mensen te behandelen.

Homeopathische artsen

Artsen die lid zijn van de Artsenvereniging voor homeopathie VHAN, zijn regulier opgeleide artsen. CANCER FUEL
 
Of those 59 hormones one is a powerful GROWTH hormone called Insulin- like Growth Factor ONE (IGF-1). By a freak of nature it is identical in cows and humans. Consider this hormone to be a “fuel cell” for any cancer… (the medical world says IGF-1 is a key factor in the rapid growth and proliferation of breast, prostate and colon cancers, and we suspect that most likely it will be found to promote ALL cancers).
 
IGF-1 is a normal part of ALL milk… the newborn is SUPPOSED to grow quickly! What makes the 50% of obese American consumers think they need MORE growth? Consumers don’t think anything about it because they do not have a clue to the problem… nor do most of our doctors.

QUANTITY
 
Each bite of hard cheese has TEN TIMES whatever was in that sip of milk… because it takes ten pounds of milk to make one pound of cheese. Each bite of ice cream has 12 times … and every swipe of butter 21 times whatever is contained in the fat molecules in a sip of milk.
 
MONSANTO AND rbGH (Posilac)
 
Monsanto Chemical Co., maker of fine poisons such as DDT, agent orange, Roundup and more… spent around half a billion dollars inventing a shot to inject into cows… to force a cow to produce MORE milk (for an already glutted taxpayer subsidized market).
 
Unfortunately, they created *FIVE* errors in their Frankenstein Posilac (rbGH) shot that direly affected all test animals… but that important report (Richard, Odaglia & Deslex, 1989) has been hidden from everyone under Clinton’s Trade Secrets act. The Canadians read enough of this report (before it was stolen) to reject rbGH for their country.
 
Monsanto’s Posilac creates additional IGF-1 in milk: up to 80% more.
 
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) insists that IGF-1 is destroyed in the stomach. If that were true, the FDA has proven that breast feeding cannot work. Common sense says their “finding” is ridiculous because this growth factor DOES make the baby calf grow (rapidly, as mother natured intended). IGF-1 INCREASES
 
This study involved two groups. One group consuming 12 ounces of milk a day and the other consuming the USDA recommended allowance of 24 ounces (three cups). This report notes that the participants consuming 12 ounces more milk per day… HAD A 10% RISE IN IGF-1 IN THEIR BLOOD SERUM! Now, consider that PER DAY, from ALL sources, the typical milk/dairy consumer ingests approximately 39% of daily diet from dairy… and that 10% increase becomes the “tip of the iceberg”. We have NO idea of the non-dairy versus full-dairy difference but considering cancer rates… it has to be significant.
 
FAT
 
Whole milk 49% of the calories are from fat.
“2%” milk 35% of the calories are from fat.
Cheddar cheese 74% of the calories are from fat.
Butter 100% of the calories are from fat.
 
Most folks suspect that butter is all fat. Most folks have no concept of the just how much fat is in the rest of milk and dairy. Perhaps the 54% of Americans who are obese need to comprehend that milk, ice cream, cheeses, yogurts, and all the OTHER products that use milk derivatives (casein, whey, lactose, colostrum) are most likely a significant cause for their weight and health problem.
 
CALCIUM
 
Calcium? Where do the COWS get calcium for their big bones? Yes… from plants! The calcium they consume from plants has a large amount of magnesium… necessary for the body to absorb and USE the calcium.
 
The calcium in cow’s milk is basically useless because it has insufficient magnesium content (those nations with the highest amount of milk/dairy consumption also have the highest rates of osteoporosis. Proof? How about a controlled study of 78,000 nurses over a period of 12 years?

Cows milk has three times the calcium as does human breast milk. No matter, neither are very usable because in order to be absorbed and used their MUST be an equal quantity of MAGNESIUM (as exists in the greens that cows eat to get all the calcium they need for their big bones). Milk has only enough magnesium to absorb around 11% (33mg per cup) of calcium.
 
Per the USDA 8 ounces (one cup) of cows milk contains:
 
Calcium, Ca mg 291.336
Magnesium, Mg mg 32.794
 
The USDA recommends 1200mg of calcium per day. The USDA recommended three cups of milk a day only have 900mg of calcium. Some argue that only 1/3 of the magnesium is necessary. Mother nature seems to suggest it should be one to one. If the ratio for proper absorption were 1/3 magnesium to one calcium then no more than 300mg of that 900mg of calcium is usable. If, in fact, it is a one to one ratio… only 98.38mg of calcium is usable.
 
It is not a matter of how much calcium one ingests… but how much one does not lose.
 
PROTEIN
 
Milk can be thought of as “liquid meat” because of its high protein content which, in concert with other proteins, may actually LEACH calcium from the body. Countries that consume high protein diets (meat, milk and dairy) have the highest rates of osteoporosis.
 
THE ‘WHOLESOME’ PROTEIN MYTH
 
87% of milk is water. That makes it VERY expensive water.
 
Broken down into its basic groups… WHOLE MILK is:

(note: that is 3.25% “milkfat” which includes the 87% water.)
 
80% of the protein in milk is casein. Casein is a powerful binder… a
polymer used to make plastics… and a glue that is better used to make
sturdy furniture or hold beer bottle labels in place. It is in
thousands of processed foods as a binder… as “something” caseinate.
 
Casein is a powerful allergen… a histamine that creates lots of
mucus. The only medicine in Olympic athlete Flo-Jo’s body was Benedryl,
a power antihistamine she took to combat her last meal… pizza.

BACTERIA
 
Cow’s milk is allowed to have feces in it. This is a major source for bacteria. Milk is typically pasteurized more than once before it gets to your table… each time for only 15 seconds at 162 degrees Fahrenheit.
 
To sanitize water one is told to boil it (212 degrees F) for several minutes. That is a tremendous disparity, isn’t it!
 
Keep in mind that at room temperature the number of bacteria in milk DOUBLE around every 20 minutes. No wonder milk turns rotten very quickly.
 
PUS
 
ONE cubic centimeter (cc) of commercial cow’s milk is allowed to have up to 750,000 somatic cells (common name is “PUS”) and 20,000 live bacteria… before it is kept off the market.
 
That amounts to a whopping 20 million live squiggly bacteria and up to 750 MILLION pus cells per liter (bit more than a quart).
 
1 cup = 236.5882cc 177,441,150 pus cells ~ 4,731,600 bacteria
24 oz (3 glasses) = 532,323,450 pus cells ~ 14,220,000 bacteria
(the “recommended” daily intake)
 
The EU and the Canadians allow for a less “tasty” 400,000,000 pus cells per liter.
 
Typically these levels are lower… but they COULD reach these levels and still get to YOUR table.
 
CHOLESTEROL
 
The cholesterol content of those three glasses of milk is equal to what one would get from 53 slices of bacon. Do you know of any doctor who recommends that much bacon per day?
 
KOSHER
 
Is cow’s milk and dairy “Kosher”? Consider this:
 
“D-3 always is derived from an animal. The sunlight reaction that converts 7-dehydrocholesterol to vitamin D-3 is a ‘pure’ chemical reaction that occurs in your skin in certain cells.”
 
“The provitamin known as 7-dehydrocholesterol is extracted and isolated from the skins of mammals and purified.” (Marian Herbert of the Vitamin D Workshop U of C)
 
Vitamin D-3 can come from four different sources:
 
Pig skin, sheep skin, raw fish liver, and pig brains. Most of the time, Vitamin D-3 is extracted from pig skin and sold to dairy processors.
 
Short answer to “is milk kosher” – probably not.
 
OTHER ‘STUFF’
 
Fat and cholesterol. Lots of it. Per the dairy influenced USDA “food pyramid” all milk, dairy and meats should represent no more than 8% of the diet. Statistically, by volume of sales in a nation of 281 million Americans, it works out to almost 40% of the diet for MILK AND DAIRY.. without the meat.
 
The milk of each of the over 4,700 mammals on earth is formulated specifically for that species. There are special lactoferrins and immunoglobulins (cow specific immunizing stuff) that in humans serve as allergens.
 
LEUKEMIA

DIABETES
 
The protein lactalbumin, has been identified as a key factor in diabetes (and a major reason for NOT giving cows milk to infants).
 
CROHN’S DISEASE
 
Mycobacterium paratuberculosis causes a bovine disease called “Johne’s.”
 
Cows diagnosed with Johne’s Disease have diarrhea, and heavy fecal shedding of bacteria. This bacteria becomes cultured in milk, and is not destroyed by pasteurization. Occasionally, the milk-borne bacteria will begin to grow in the human host, and the results are irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s Disease.
 
MAD COW DISEASE
 
There may also be prions (pronounced PREons) in the milk and meat. This is crystalline substance that acts like a virus… with an “incubation” period of from 5 to 30 years. The end result is MAD COW DISEASE!
 
HOMOGENIZATION
 
Large fat molecules cannot get through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream. The cream no longer rises… because homogenization breaks up those large molecules into small ones that DO get into the bloodstream! This becomes an expressway for any fat-borne toxins (lead, dioxin’s, etc.) into your (otherwise) most protected organs.
 
CUMULATIVE EFFECTS
 
How does this impact humans who consume cow’s milk and dairy? Obesity (over 50% of Americans and rising), heart disease, cancer, allergies, digestive problems, diabetes, asthma, desensitization to antibiotics, behavioral problems, and the constant ingestion of dioxin’s, herbicides, pesticides (and anything else the cow eats that is not good for any critter), that winds up getting stored in HUMAN fat… is not healthy by any measure.
 
Those who resist believing the truth should understand that MOST of the world’s population CANNOT tolerate the lactose in cow’s milk. Up to 95% of the black population, around 53% of the Hispanics, etc.) So much for cow’s milk being “natures perfect food” for humans! Mother nature knows better.
 
Common sense question: Where was this massive “milk is a must” before refrigeration, pasteurization and mass transportation? Back when cows gave only 1-4 pounds a day it was quickly made into BUTTER and cheese! Now that those same cows have been tweaked and shot-up with Posilac to produce up to 55 or more pounds of milk per day… almost all year long… it is suddenly (after many thousands of years) a daily “staple”. NOT!
 
POLLUTION
 
There are around 9.2 million dairy cows in the United states. Each dairy cow ingests around 330 pounds of feed (perhaps 50 pounds) and water (around 280 pounds or 33 gallons) per day. Allowing for the best dairy production of 55 pounds of milk per day (over ten times what mother nature designed the cow to produce) that means that what remains becomes “slurry”.
 
That means around 275 pound of urine and feces per day… per cow, for a daily total of 2.53 BILLION pounds of pollution. Per year… that amounts to around 923 billion pounds of UNTREATED pollution entering our streams, rivers, lakes… and drinking water systems.
 
Cows are hot-blooded mammals. Like all other mammals they pass gas. Somewhat like elephants their compartmented digestive system is rather inefficient… which leads to the creation of MORE gas. During a Discovery Channel documentary on elephants a parting quip was that the average adult elephant passes enough methane gas per day to run a car about 20 miles.
 
Cows are not much better. The English New Scientist (page 5 -31.8.96) mentions that cattle produce around 48 kilograms (105 pounds) of methane each per year and that more bubbles out of the animals’ manure. Dairy cows eat more because they produce milk. With 9.2 million dairy cows times a minimum of 100 pounds of methane gas per year… that amounts almost a billion pounds of methane gas released into the atmosphere each year. With around 100 million beef cattle… pigs, sheep, and other “factory farmed” animals it should not be difficult to fathom the extent of this problem.
 
This means that “Beef is a greenhouse-intensive food” and a major cause of global warming (with dairy a significant part of the problem).

“Milk is a very strong pollutant: it is about 400 times more polluting than untreated sewage. To put it another way, 1,000 gallons of milk has the same polluting potential as the untreated sewage from a town of 7,000 people.” Morlais Owen. Chief Scientist for Welsh Water. Antidepressants- Bad studies are kept under the rug

Antidepressants: They’re not as effective as we’re told after researchers suppress the ‘bad’ studies

Doctors and the public may have been misled about the effectiveness of antidepressant drugs.  They have both been victims of spin that researchers have put on their findings in order to present the drugs in the best possible light.

Sometimes poor results have been suppressed, while even those that have been published have claimed the drug is far more effective than the findings suggest, new research has discovered.

In virtually every case, the drug trial has been paid for by the manufacturer, researchers from Oregon Health and Science University found.

They analysed 74 separate trials into antidepressant drugs that had been registered with America’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  Of these, a third was never published, and this was usually because the study discovered the drug was either not effective or was more dangerous than first thought.

Of the trials that were published, 94 per cent of them came up with a positive outcome about the effectiveness of the drug, and yet the FDA’s independent analysis of the same trials concluded that just half were positive.

SSRI dangers

The FDA has issued more public warnings and black box notices – prominent announcements on the drug’s literature and patient information sheets – about the dangers of SSRIs than almost any other drug family.  Although the drugs come with a vast array of adverse reactions, drug regulators are especially concerned by the SSRI’s potential to increase the risk of suicide.

The risk was thought to be greatest among adolescents and teenagers, but the FDA has admitted that anybody who takes an SSRI is at greater risk of committing suicide.

At an FDA drugs advisory committee meeting held in December, 2006, psychiatrist Dr David Healy told the members: “The idea that you would have a risk in one age group but not in another is just wrong.”

Another psychiatrist, Dr Peter Breggin, also testified, and said: “America’s drug watchdog needs to come clean because it’s been approving depressants as antidepressants.  The primary data on suicidality has been generated in short-term controlled clinical trials planned by drug companies, carried out by drug company hacks, and evaluated by drug company employees at corporate headquarters.  If that kind of carefully-cultivated evaluation bears such bad fruit, imagine what the real data must show.”

Despite these very real dangers, doctors continue to prescribe SSRIs to children. In one study, researchers discovered that children as young as six years were being prescribed an SSRI, and they were 52 per cent more likely to commit suicide within the following two months.  Overall a child on an SSRI was 15 times more likely to commit suicide than one not taking the drug (Arch Gen Psych, 2006; 63: 865-72).

In addition to the suicide risk, SSRIs have been linked to a wide range of other adverse reactions.  Prozac alone has 242 different side effects listed, including 34 problems of the genital and urinary tract.  In one review of drug reactions, “during a 10-year period Prozac was associated with more hospitalizations, deaths or other serious adverse effects reported to the FDA than any other drug in America” (Moore, T: Prescription for Disaster.  New York, Dell Publishing, 1998).
The most common problems associated with SSRIs are neurological (22 per cent), psychiatric (19.5 per cent), gastrointestinal (18 per cent) and dermatological (11.4 per cent) (Drug Safety, 1999; 20: 277-87).

Every SSRI manufacturer has lawsuits pending.  Forest Laboratories, which makes Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate) and Celexa (citalopram) has been involved in at least 25 active lawsuits recently, says US law firm Pogust & Braslow, and most of these involve cases of unexplained suicide or attempted suicide.
